“My name is Morgan Lundy and I’m the maintenance supervisor.”

Meet Mr. Lundy — a California native, born and raised in Escondido. In his youth, Mr. Lundy worked as a beekeeper alongside his father: “I started working bees when I was 12 and did that for 10 years,” Lundy said. The ever-present possibility of being stung never unnerved him: “Scared of being stung? No. When you get stung all the time you don’t get scared anymore.”

After ending his career as a beekeeper at the age of 22, Lundy delved in other types of professions until, finally, in 2009 he was offered a position at CAHS.

Woodwork had always been a passion of his. His passion for building started at a young age. “I got it from my father,” Lundy said. “He was a carpenter and he built things and he taught me how to build things, and I always liked working with him. As soon as I could walk I would hang around dad while he was building.”

Lundy’s day at Classical requires him to constantly be on his feet as he tackles the laundry list of responsibilities assigned to him. “I fix things that break, I build things, I mount things to the wall,” Lundy said. “I [also] clean up where messes have been made.”

His favorite part of his job? “The kids. I love the kids,” Lundy said. “[Work-wise], I like building things.”

He reminisced about the first project he completed at CAHS: “One of the first things that I built was the ASB storage shed at the other school behind caiman hall — our old caiman hall,” Lundy said. “My dad helped me.”

Lundy’s father passed away over the summer of 2014. His extensive knowledge about construction, however, lived on. He’d passed his knowledge onto his son and inspired Lundy to pursue a career in construction.  Since then, Lundy has gone on the create many other projects, both larger scale and small. However, he doesn’t have one favorite project. Instead, “My favorite [projects] are the things that I get to build and I get to give to people as gifts, for their birthdays and for christmas — things like that.”
