Homecoming spirit week – four days full of costumes and mayhem – rallied the students before the homecoming game and dance. Throughout the week, students dressed up and let their creative sides loose.

While some played it safe, donning t-shirts from their favorite plays, others went all out with their dress-up day gear.

Freshman Madelyn Stennett, who dressed as Elphaba from “Wicked,” said, “I think it’s really fun to dress up everyday. [Icon Day] gave you a lot of options and quirky ways to dress up.”

The dress-up themes for spirit week were well-received by the student body. “I think it was a good spirit week [because] it was very open to interpretation,” senior Lucas Barton-Bareno said.

Although the majority of students enjoyed each spirit day, Icon Day appeared to be the favorite of most, followed closely by “The City that Always Sleeps.”

“I love musicals and I love all the [costume] options. There are so many amazing shows that you can watch, but nobody really knows about them because New York is so far away,” sophomore Kate McCleod said.

A multitude of students participated just for the chance to wear unusual clothes. “I did it just for the fun of it,” Barton said.

In addition to being an opportunity to wear outlandish outfits, homecoming spirit week provided the opportunity for students to earn points towards a competition between classes for the spirit cup. ASB announced that the senior class won the spirit cup, followed by the junior, sophomore, and freshman classes at the homecoming dance.

“I don’t think my class has ever won [the spirit cup] before so it’s nice to end our time at the Classical Academy with winning the spirit cup,” senior Noah Castillero said.
