Senior Brady Goe receives lucrative baseball scholarship

With college slowly looming closer, many graduating seniors are beginning to realise that along with the added pressures of choosing what to do with themselves during and after college, comes the worries of having money with the application cost to the most commonly applied colleges like UCSD, UCLA, and UCI being up to 135 dollars. Added to this are tuition fees, textbooks, and moving expenses which, on average, add up to 23,000 dollars for most students (Mullinix 2023). All of this leads seniors to apply for scholarships and grants with one senior finding success through sports. Playing for the Classical Academy Varsity baseball team, Brady Goe signed and accepted a sports scholarship to land him a spot at Simpson University in California. “The main reason for me taking this was to keep playing sports for as long as I can”, said Goe.

Sports have always been a part of Goe’s life with him playing baseball for 14 years . “I started playing baseball when I was four…I’ve been playing sports my whole life,” said Goe. Having an affinity for baseball, Goe signed up to be a part of the Classical Academy High baseball team during his freshman year and quickly rose to prominence. “He’s our starting first baseman,” said Trevor Hoff, teammate of two years. Having been the amazing athlete that he is, Goes reputation both on and off the field seems to sit at a very high threshold with his teammates speaking glowingly of his great attitude during games. “He’s really nice. He’s very optimistic about most things…and always pushes us to our limits,” said Justice Smith, teammate of three years. Off the field, Brady Goe continues to support his team and enforces a sense of unity and brotherhood in a shared sport as well as regularly makes sure that all his teammates are doing well and assures them that he is there for any of them should they need someone to talk to. “I make sure the guys know if they need something, to just text me,” said Goe.

In the next two weeks, Brady will be spending the rest of his time here at Classical Academy enjoying his senior year to the fullest knowing that even if baseball is not a full-time career, he still pulled away with something of value. “It’s made me get a good work ethic and it’s kind of the main way I’ve made friends throughout my life,” said Goe. Taking away these experiences along with many others is incredibly important to Goe, but not just for the sake of memories. Alongside playing baseball during his time at Simpson, Goe plans to study in areas that he is not only familiar with but will thrive in with his past experiences. “I’m either going to do kinesiology or sports management, but I might also do kinesiology with a business minor,” said Goe. From the field to friendships, Brady Goe has shown that he is an exemplary athlete, a dedicated student, and a close friend to his teammates, and will no doubt go beyond Classical Academy to achieve his goals.
