14-year-old transgender activist and YouTube star Jazz Jennings is set to star in her own unscripted TLC show called “All That Jazz.” This 11-part docu-series focuses mainly on Jennings’s life as a transgender youth.

Ever since the age of two, Jennings knew she was “a girl trapped in a boy’s body.” At age five, she became one of the youngest people ever to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is when one feels uncomfortable with the gender that they were assigned at birth (Yahoo! News).

Jennings’s parents have been fully supportive of her transition. Now at age 14, Jennings has become one of the most iconic faces of transgender youth. She has a successful YouTube channel, has written a children’s book called “I Am Jazz,” and was even named one of Time Magazine’s “25 Most Influential Teens of 2014.” She has also recently been featured in a new Clean & Clear ad campaign called “The Real Me.”

“Jazz’s story is universal, yet unique, and we’re proud to partner with her family to share it with TLC’s audience,” TLC General Manager Nancy Daniels said. “Jazz may be known as an author and activist, but she’s first and foremost a teenage girl with a big, brave heart, living a remarkable life.”

“All That Jazz” is just one of many recently developed shows chronicling the lives of transgender individuals. Others include Amazon’s Golden Globe-winning “Transparent,” Discovery Life’s “New Girls On the Block,” and ABC Family’s “My Transparent Life” (CNN).

“We know that families come in all shapes and sizes, but at their core, they are all about love, acceptance, and support. Only TLC can tell this family’s story in way that celebrates and demystifies difference in an effort to help create a world without prejudice,” Marjorie Kaplan, Group President, TLC & Animal Planet, said about Jennings’s new series.

Although an official release date hasn’t been stated yet, “All That Jazz” is set to premier this summer.
